If you own a dog in the United Arab Emirates, there are somethings that you must know. This post focuses on Dubai specifically, and points may be different for other locations, so make sure to do your own research also.
Register and Vaccinate your Dog
It is mandatory that your dog is vaccinated and registered. Every dog must be vaccinated and microchipped. All registrations are valid for 1 year, and re-registration is required every year. Dubai Municipality requires that you renew your dog’s vaccinations every year also. Not following the above will attract a 3 day warning, in which you need to comply or you may be fined د.إ200 (AED200, INR 4033, USD55) and possible confiscation of the animal in question.
Your dog must not be on the list of banned breeds

These breeds will be confiscated and sent to a no-kill shelter immediately from where they will be re-homed in other countries.
Make sure your Landlord is ok with it
Even if you do not rent the property, make sure the land owner is alright with having animals on the property. If you are not able to present a signed letter of approval will result in a heavy fine.
Dog must be masked and on a leash outside
In public, your dog must be on a leash. Large breeds must be muzzled in public.
Notice: Fines of up to 500,000 AED and jail sentences of up to six months will be commanded for owners who fail to control their dogs. Dogs should be appropriately kept when outside.
Remember, these laws change all the time, and you should always do your own research at the time.
