Heatstroke Symptoms In Puppies

You and your pup probably love playing out in the summer. You, as a dog owner should take care. Did you know that heatstroke can be fatal for your dog? Heatstroke without First Aid can kill your puppy in 15 minutes.

Pups can’t sweat to cool off like we can. That’s why dogs pant. Puppies with white/thin fur can also suffer from sunburn.

Cars and Heatstroke

Cars are actually death traps for your dog. If you leave your dog in the car, the temperature rises and the dog could suffer heatstroke. That’s the purpose of Tesla’s ‘Dog Mode’. Symptoms

• Pale Gums
• Thick Saliva
• Red Tongue
• Bloody Vomiting
• Diarrhoea

Treatment

Quickly, take your dog into an air-conditioned space. Meanwhile, call a dog ambulance or a vet. Find out what to do. Usually, your dog will need veterinary treatment as soon as possible.

In case the heatstroke is severe, wet the dog with cold water and place ice bags on the ‘armpits’ and groin area where the major blood vessels are located.
