Most cats absolutely love playing with yarn. It is shown in movies, tv shows and the press. We may find it super cute, but what are the health hazards to it?

Concerns With Yarn

  • Choking – Chewing yarn is appealing to some cats; if the piece gets stuck in the back of the cat’s mouth, it can choke.
  • Obstruction – Obstructions are very serious, and surgery is often required to remove the object.

โš ๏ธ Warning: Other household objects such as curtain strings, sewing thread, shoe laces, hair ties, rubber bands, dental floss, ribbons, tinsel, rope, and twine can be as dangerous as yarn.
